Endings. New beginnings (AGAIN!)

Wow. IT’S DONE. My exhibition ‘Louder than words’ at the Whanganui Community Art Centre (Nov 3-14, 2021) is done & dusted. Been & gone! I’ve been back in my studio for less than a week - & already I’m being stalked by the question “What now?”. AGAIN!

It’s HERE!!!15 large & 3 smaller abstract works are up on the gallery walls…….. wow…….so great to finally see everything hanging out together in my ‘Louder than words’ exhibition! Amazing.

This is what I love about MAKING my collage / paper work. The surprise discoveries I could not imagine, but ‘discover’ when they just happen, while I am absorbed in the process of making them.

See the dandelion in this picture? (lower left corner). That’s what I feel like – an oddity, the outsider, a small thing surrounded by bigger things. Am I the only one there?

Keep Going!

Want to go your own way and do your own thing? I have been turning to Austin Kleon’s new book, ‘Keep Going’, for support this week, while I stumble along trying to figure out the ‘how’ part of my actually living an unconventional life, & the challenges of not meeting outside expectations of what I ‘should’ do, bring to my door.

This week I have been reflecting on the many wonderful people I met during my exhibition at The Learning Connexion. I enjoyed the many conversations with you all, sharing my exploration of folding paper, my process of making, my personal creative life, & connecting about our everyday lives, whether creative or not

This week is my exhibition week at The Learning Connexion, in Taita, Wellington, & the end of my level 7, Advanced Diploma of Creativity. It has been a magic year, being able to stay home, study full time by distance delivery, & have that time & space to really dig deep and develop my creative practice, & my collage work.
