Scale. It’s been on my mind since my last post, ‘Surprise discoveries’.
At the end of my Advanced Diploma exhibition in June, I decided to take 4 weeks off making things, so I could take the time to mull over the bigger picture of exactly what it is I want to keep creatively building on – and nail down, SPECIFICALLY, what I will focus my creative energy on continuing to make.
The question that came to mind was – what would I regret not doing? To my surprise – the reply was GOING BIGGER!
Making the little samplers (I call them now!) of folded paper, for my exhibition, has given me a taste of what could be possible to create, as a wall itself.
I am very keen to see the above folded paper covering an entire wall of my bedroom. It’s soft and restful, and being around it makes me relax.
I also know it will take on the colour of my wall too, buttercup yellow, even though the paper itself is white.
The visual impression of the (paper) wall will change during the day depending on the changing light source. And I can choose a night light that creates a different visual impression from the daylight one too.
I could make the folds at the original small scale above, or upsize them to twice as big, which I am sure will change the visual effect of it as a wall, compared to the original one.
O….M …G … this is going to take alot of time to make !!
