I want to be more confident & intentional about gathering colours together in my abstract collections.

If I spend more time playing with it, exploring it, gathering experiences with it, I'll gain a better intuitive feel for it.

So every week, for the entire duration of 2025, I've committed to digitally picking colours out of my photos, or magazine pages I'm strongly attracted to.

I'm curious to learn which colours keep showing up, & have some fun playing with colour combinations!

I'm digitally picking out colours from my photos, then choosing a swatch of colours as the starting point for some digital pattern play.

It's collage without the scissors to me, playing with shapes, & colour combinations.

I love this photo of the ocean from the Napier waterfront, just two blocks from my studio!

Picking colours out of it, I was surprised there was such a limited range of colours available.

Still, it was a great experience to work with less colour contrast than I prefer.

I had to swap out some of my colour swatch choices to find a balance I liked.

For no particular reason, I chose to work with rectangles & small squares.

This is the pattern play outcome I'm happy with.

I like how it feels xxx
